City & Guilds / EAL 2394 Award in the Initial Verification and Certification of Electrical Installations

This course is aimed at practising electricians who have not carried out inspection and testing since qualifying or who require some update of training before going on to other qualifications. The qualification is also suitable for those with limited experience of initial inspection of electrical installations, such as those entering the industry from other engineering disciplines or who have been working in allied trades.

The objective of the City & Guilds 2394 Award in the Initial Verification and Certification of Electrical Installations is for the candidate to be able to:
 
This Level 3 scheme is for those with current industry experience of inspection and testing of electrical installations to BS7671:2008 (17th Edition Wiring Regulations) and require to become certified, possibly for NICEIC purposes.  Please note this is not suitable for novices.  Candidates wishing to achieve this qualification lacking industry experience should consider the Domestic Electrical Installer scheme first.
 
Course Description
 
Theory / Practical
 
The requirements of BS 7671 for inspection, testing and certification, practical demonstrations of specified tests, ‘hands on’ sessions and preparation for written and practical assessments are covered.

    The course consists of:
     
  • Training - 5 days
  • Practical assessment (4 hours)
  • Written examination (upto 2½ hours)

    Assessments
     
  • "One-to-one" practical assessment of upto 4 hours duration with a qualified Assessor.
  • Upto 2½ hours examintaion depending on which certification body you choose. City & Guilds examination will comprise of multiple choice online exam answer and essay-based questions. Dates are set by City & Guilds and will take place during an evening. EAL examaminitaion are multiple choice online and have flexible dates.
