Asbestos Awareness Programme

This course is designed for employees who duties include working with asbestos as part of their job. This course is formulated to familiarise personnel with various types of awareness and regulation training. Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations 1987 places an explicit duty on persons in control of premises to assess and manage the risks from asbestos. The risks will vary with circumstances, ranging from normal occupation of premises, to the repair, refurbishment and removal of asbestos and they will need to be assessed. This assessment will be used to produce a management plan, which details and records the actions to be undertaken to manage and reduce the risks from asbestos.

Course Content
 
On completion of the course the candidate will have a good understanding of:
 
  • The requirements on Employers and building owners
  • To take reasonable steps to determine the location of materials likely to contain asbestos
  • Monitor the condition of asbestos
  • Take steps to see that the actions are carried out
  • To manage the risk from asbestos containing materials
  • Keep and maintain an up to date log of the location, condition, maintenance and removal of all asbestos containing materials on the premises
  • Maintain in a good state of repair
  • Review the plan at regular intervals
