Health & Safety Risk Assessment and Procedures - Band Saw Training
The purpose of the course and it’s associated booklet is to give guidance on safe working practices when using band saws. Legal requirement covering the use of these machines relate to saws with a maximum blade width of 50mm and are contained in the Woodworking Machine Regulations, 1974 and the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1992.
Guidance is also available in the H.S.E. information sheet No 31 “Safety in the use of narrow band sawing machines.” Following the guidance is not compulsory and you are free to take other action. But if you do follow the guidance you will normally be doing enough to comply with the law. |
